STRM059: Business Management Research in Practice

In the current international economic environment, entrepreneurs and managers are frequently required to undertake business planning, research and project work in addition to their core responsibilities.  Frequently these projects are focused upon investigating potential strategic changes in order to create, retain and extend a competitive position within a turbulent business environment.

This module aims to equip aspiring entrepreneurs and managers with the necessary skills to practice independent research within a business environment.  Learners will conduct an independent research project based on a business management situation which may be industry or corporate-specific focused. The context for the research will be jointly agreed by the tutor and the student. It might be an organisational setting chosen by the student or one provided by the tutor. The focus of the project will be the investigation of a business problem or issue which, through the application of research techniques and analysis, will culminate in proposals / recommendations for change.
